Blackjack Springs Wilderness is a reserve in Wisconsin and has an elevation of 525 metres. Blackjack Springs Wilderness is southwest of Pine-Oak Grove State Natural Area (park).First of all I know this is a BWCA site, but I know there are a lot of Wisconsin residents that read these posts. I love the BW it is just too far away for a weekend trip. I was wondering what people knew about the designated wilderness areas in Wisconsin. Specifically on the eastern side, Headwaters, Blackjack springs or whisker lake? The Blackjack Springs Wilderness was established by Congress in 1978 and covers an area of 5,886 acres. Much of the area was changed by logging and fire in the early 1900's with subsequent reforestation, road building, and timber harvest under National Forest management. Portions of abandoned logging roads and railroad grades are still visible.
